A lesson for the campaign

While the result stings, the performance confirms that this Inter side belongs among the favorites for the trophy. We went to the Bernabéu with a makeshift wingback and a debutant in midfield and still forced Mourinho to retreat into a defensive shell. The two stars on our chest were represented with honor, even if the scoreboard didn't show it. Chivu will be fuming at the defensive lapses, but the blueprint for the rest of the group stage is clear: minimize the mistakes, and we can beat anyone.

I’m absolutely livid. To see us dominate a Mourinho side like that and lose because of stupid, avoidable errors is pure Pazza Inter in the worst way. Curtis Jones showed why we bought him, covering multiple roles during the game, but he also showed why elite experience matters in these stadiums. We were outfoxed by Mourinho's gameplan. Courtois saved their skins, and Mourinho got lucky. We move on, but those build-up errors need to be coached out of our system immediately if we want to reach the final.
