Bisseck to BILD: World Cup dream, Serie A lessons, and why Inter’s standards are the point

Yann Bisseck’s season at Inter has put silverware on the table — but in Germany, the conversation is still catching up. In a new interview with BILD, the Inter centre-back spoke candidly about recognition back home, what he’s learned in Italy, and the one goal that still sits above everything else: wearing the Germany shirt at the 2026 World Cup.

The first theme is visibility. Asked whether Inter’s titles are getting the attention they deserve in Germany, Bisseck didn’t complain — he simply made his hope clear.

“That’s a good question. Of course I hope the successes and my performances are seen in Germany.” he said.

He added that it was already his “second league title in three years” and that Inter’s double made him “proud and super happy.”

Those lines matter because they reflect a recurring reality of the market and the national-team debate: Premier League exposure often dominates the German football spotlight, while Serie A performances can feel less “loud” even when they come with trophies. Bisseck even acknowledged that perception directly, saying he feels

“that the Premier League has a bit more focus.”

From there, he leaned into the footballing argument for Italy — especially for a defender. “Italy is certainly the land of defenders”, Bisseck said, stressing how the league’s priorities begin with “defensive stability.”

His conclusion was blunt: Serie A remains “the best” league for learning to defend, and he says he has taken “a lot” from his time at Inter.

That links neatly to another constant in the transfer market: clubs increasingly value defenders who are not only physically dominant, but also system-educated — comfortable in structured defending, timing, and penalty-box management. Bisseck framed his own “numbers” in that light too.

“As a defender, my first job is to defend”, he said, but added that at 1.96m he has “I also have a responsibility in the opponent’s penalty area,” especially on set pieces.

And then comes the headline ambition — the one that frames everything else.

“My goal and dream is to be at the World Cup and wear the Germany shirt,” Bisseck said.

Importantly, he also revealed there has already been contact with Julian Nagelsmann:

“That was before the last call-up… the coach called me to say my performance is being seen and I’m in the extended circle.”

It’s another reminder of what this season has done for the squad’s profile: the best Inter campaigns don’t just end with medals — they also raise players into international conversations. For Bisseck, the message is clear: he believes the work has put him close. Now he wants the call that turns a strong season into a World Cup summer.
