Diouf, Bisseck, and Martínez earn first call-ups

It’s a proud week to be an Interista. The dominance we’ve shown on the domestic front is finally bleeding onto the international stage, with a trio of our heroes receiving their maiden senior call-ups. Andy Diouf has officially been named in Zinedine Zidane’s France squad. But he isn't alone; Yann Bisseck has finally broken into the German national setup, and Josep Martínez has earned his place with Spain. It’s a testament to the development work being done by Cristian Chivu and the faith shown in these players by the Baccin and Marotta leadership.

The Zidane provocation: Diouf at left-back?

Yann Bisseck’s arrival in the German squad is long overdue. The "Wall of Bonn" has been a pillar of consistency in our backline, combining modern athleticism with a tactical discipline that has matured significantly under Chivu. Similarly, Josep Martínez has silenced the doubters who questioned his ability to replace a legend like Sommer. His first call-up for Spain is a direct result of his elite shot-stopping and his ability to initiate play under pressure—a skill that has become central to our build-up, despite the occasional heart-stopping moment in our recent thriller against Udinese.

A double-edged sword for Chivu

While we celebrate our boys reaching the pinnacle of the sport, there is a lingering ansia about their return. The international break is always a minefield for injuries, and with Hakan and Stones already in the treatment room, we can ill-afford to lose any more key pieces. However, the prestige that comes with these call-ups will only increase their market value and, more importantly, their confidence. They leave Milan as Nerazzurri champions and will return, hopefully, with even more experience to fuel our defense of the Scudetto.

Zidane saying he wants Diouf as a left-back is pure madness—has he been watching the same games we have? Diouf is a creative engine in the middle, not a track-and-field athlete for the defensive flank. That said, I’m buzzing for Bisseck and Josep Martínez. Seeing our boys represent the three biggest nations in Europe is proof that the Marotta project is hitting new heights. Just come back in one piece, boys. We have a title to defend.
