DONE DEAL: Inter Set To Extend Cristian Chivu Contract Until 2028

Cristian Chivu is set to continue his long-term project at Inter after reaching a full agreement over a new contract extension with the Nerazzurri.

Transfer insider Nicolò Schira reported on Monday evening that the deal is now completed and confirmed, with Chivu expected to extend his contract until 2028, including an option for a further season until 2029.

According to Schira, the Romanian coach will also receive a significant salary increase worth around €4 million per season.

Important summit held at Inter headquarters

The update arrives after a key meeting took place earlier today between Chivu and Inter’s hierarchy at the club headquarters in Milano.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter president Beppe Marotta, sporting directors Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin, along with representatives from Oaktree Capital, were all present during discussions.

The meeting reportedly focused on both Chivu’s contractual future and Inter’s strategic planning ahead of the 2026/27 season.

His understanding of Inter’s identity, combined with tactical flexibility and strong dressing-room management, has reportedly convinced ownership to accelerate extension talks well before his current deal expires in 2027.
