Inter accelerate for Marco Palestra: first contacts with Atalanta, price already climbing

Inter’s summer planning is already underway — and one name is starting to come up with increasing frequency: Marco Palestra.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have decided to move in advance and have already initiated the first contacts with Atalanta, with Beppe Marotta speaking to Antonio Percassi to explore the conditions of a potential deal. The report underlines that the Nerazzurri want to gain an early edge on the competition for the 2005-born wide player after his standout season on loan at Cagliari.

The same Gazzetta report frames it as an operation that could make sense even before Inter have full clarity on the future of Denzel Dumfries, whose situation is often discussed in the context of the right flank. In other words: Inter’s idea looks like building options, not simply replacing.

Meanwhile, Corriere della Sera goes even further on the numbers: in a wider piece about Serie A’s coaching carousel, it mentions that Palestra could be among Atalanta’s potential departures and states that Inter have already offered €40m plus €5m in bonuses for the player.

What’s clear is that any negotiation with Atalanta is rarely straightforward — and timing may matter. Gazzetta notes the Bergamo club are not in a rush and that decisions could also be influenced by the new technical cycle, meaning Inter’s “early move” is as much about positioning as it is about closing quickly.

Inter seeking strong, young Italian players

For Inter, Palestra’s appeal is obvious: a young, Italian, high-upside wide profile who can fit the modern demands of a flank role — and who aligns with a squad-build approach increasingly focused on sustainable investments with resale value.

Nothing is official yet, and figures reported in the press should be treated as indicative until clubs confirm them — but the direction of travel is clear: Inter want to be first in line.
