Marotta’s message to Inter: “We are the team of this city — the only one with two stars”

Inter President Beppe Marotta delivered a pointed, pride-filled message during a special event in Milan to present the club’s new 2026/27 kit, underlining Inter’s place at the top of the city’s football hierarchy after the latest trophy haul.

Speaking to supporters at the Arena Civica (Arena Gianni Brera) — a historic venue that once hosted Inter home matches — Marotta first paid tribute to the figures who shaped the club’s modern identity, crediting the work done across generations of leadership.

“If Inter are up there, it is thanks to all the Presidents who held this role before me,” Marotta said, name-checking the Moratti family, Fraizzoli, Pellegrini and Zhang, as he framed the current era as a continuation of Inter’s broader story rather than a single moment in time.

Two stars, one city — and a clear message to Milan

Then came the line that instantly made headlines — and which many read as a direct dig at AC Milan.

“It’s a special evening and we wanted to crown it in this venue, an icon of the city, because we are the team of this city, the only one that has two stars in the city of Milano, and this makes us very proud,” Marotta said.

Inter’s “two stars” status comes from the traditional milestone of one star per 10 Scudetti. With Inter now beyond 20 league titles, Marotta’s message carried both symbolism and swagger — especially with Milan still behind on the historical count.

The new kit: stars, Scudetto and Coppa Italia badge

The speech came as part of the unveiling for Inter’s 2026/27 shirt, which will visibly celebrate the club’s latest successes. As noted in the report, the kit presentation highlighted that the new jersey is set to feature:

  • the two stars

  • the Scudetto symbol

  • the Coppa Italia “target” badge

A clean reminder of what Inter have achieved — and a statement of intent going into the new season: Inter aren’t just winning. They’re building a legacy, and they want Milan to know it.
