“Not a bargaining chip”: Massolin’s agent pushes back and outlines Inter plan under Chivu

Inter’s January investment in Yanis Massolin is not a move designed to flip the midfielder in the next negotiation — at least, that’s the clear message from his agent Yvan Le Mee, who spoke at length in an exclusive interview with FcInterNews.it.

Le Mee didn’t just defend the player’s trajectory; he also laid out the roadmap for the summer, insisting Massolin will get the chance to earn his place in Cristian Chivu’s squad before any decisions are made.

The profile: “A No.10 body with a left foot and vision”

In the interview, Le Mee describes Massolin as a rare mix: a technically gifted player with the size and physical frame usually associated with a different role. He points to Massolin’s left foot, vision, and ability to beat his man and create superiority, adding that the work done in Italy helped him become more complete through detail-focused development.
The agent also says Inter see him long-term as a mezzala, the position they targeted him for when deciding to invest.

A different pathway: no academy, a “climb” through levels

Le Mee stresses that Massolin’s rise wasn’t the classic academy-to-top-club route. He outlines a path that required time, minutes, and physical growth — and frames the move to Italy as a deliberate step because of how players are built up tactically and athletically here.

Interest and choices: PSV, Villarreal — and a clear Inter plan

According to Le Mee, Massolin had other suitors (he mentions PSV and Villarreal) but believes the Inter environment is the right place to unlock the player’s ceiling.

And crucially, the summer plan is already mapped out in his mind:

  • Pre-season camp in Germany with Chivu

  • Then Hong Kong and Australia on tour, playing friendlies

  • End-of-August evaluation: stay with Inter if ready, or go out to play a full season on loan if minutes will be limited

Le Mee’s argument is straightforward: a young player develops by playing, but only after he’s been given a real shot to prove himself in the environment he was signed for.

“Swap piece? That’s nonsense”

This is where the tone becomes strongest. Le Mee openly rejects the idea of Massolin being used as a permanent “swap chip” in other deals, saying that reading such reports frustrates him — and that it would make little sense for Inter to invest and then move the player on without a chance.

He also adds an interesting football point: he believes Massolin could find Serie A spaces “easier” than Serie B, because top-flight games don’t always allow opponents to swarm one player the way it can happen at a lower level.
